Awards were given for the top runners overall (Miami & Virtual, as well as a top award (M&F for the following categories: BtoB, BtoC, Media Services, Non-media & Web Media). Real Run or Virtual? 5 Replies

About World Media 5k Run

This February, magazine, television, radio and web media professionals will be united in a 5k race benefiting Special Olympics. The World Media Run will take place Friday, February 22nd at the FOLIO: Publishing Summit. However, participants can take part in the festivities from anywhere in the world during the weekend of 2/22 – 2//24. Results from all locales will be co-mingled online immediately after the weekend.

Unlike most races, which feature age-group competition, the World Media Run is being marketed toward media professionals, and offers recognition for anyone excelling in their professional category.

World Media Run is jointly sponsored by Nxtbook Media, Runners World, FOLIO: Magazine and Wise Group Custom Publishing.

Attendees of FOLIO Pushing Summit may participate in World Media Run for free. Registration for virtual runners is $25. All participants receive a fashionable tech shirt with two-color World Media Run logo. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to Special Olympics. Online registration is available at Active.com

Results from all locations will be co-mingled and posted to the event website upon conclusion of the weekend.

World Media Run From Around the Web

Results are still trickling in. In the mean-time, I thought I'd post reactions from the Web: Tony Uphoff - President of CMP's Media Technology Group (Miami runner) Eric Gervase - Director of Sales, Nxtbook Media (Miami runner)… Continue

Early Results Are In!

As I write this, we're currently stranded in the Ft. Lauderdale Airport. Last I heard, our plan will take off at 11:47pm, which will bring us in later than I care to think. So far, I've gotten one virtual update - Steve from Virginia came through in the low 18's! I won't be more specific about overall results until all the virtual ones came in, but here's how things turned out in Miami: Hank Berkowitz 17:22 Marcus Grimm 20:30 Matthew Schmalling 21:40 Jessica Cole 22:51 Kerry Smith 23:23 Eric Ge… Continue

The Shirts Have Arrived!

The tech shirts for World Media Run have arrived! Made by Leslie Jordan in their Cool-Cat Smooth fabric, they are sweet! If you have registered for the virtual portion of this year's race, we'll begin mailing out the shirts on Monday. Heck, we'll probably finish, too, since we don't have very many virtual racers - around a half dozen at last count. However, the "flagship race" in Miami is shaping up very well, with nearly 40 runners registered and expe… Continue

Welcome to Our Blog!

As a long-time blogger, I've always had a rule about NOT publicizing sites with blogs when the only blog post is, "Welcome to our Blog." Yet, in the haste/rush/excitement to get this particular site launched, that's exactly what we've done here.

So, what is the World Media Run? That's easy - it's a 5k event, technically open to everyone but marketed specifically to media professionals.

Why Media Professionals?
Because we're a bunch of media professionals who like… Continue
